The Villains are getting me on their Slow Train – Music Review

Saxony has some bands and musicians that seem to be very representative these days in Germany … like Kraftklub (which I don’t like), Silbermond (which one I don’t like either). Back in 1997 I was studying in Zwickau and I was witness to the Record Release Party of the debut album of THE VILLAINS. I liked their show but I still cannot remember why I didn’t buy their stuff on that evening. I probably was as often later and before madly broke. So, anyway. I read later from time to time of these guys and I was hoping to have the chance to see them live again. But anyhow I couldn’t make it to any other concert and I didn’t recognize the release of their second album SLOW TRAIN. It was released in 2009. So, some years later I just realised that I have to apologize.

The whole album “Slow Train” is a sophisticated alternative music with deeply touching lyrics and sounds that gets deep into my music loving heart. I absolutely love the arrangements and the singing voice. (That is usually one of the important stuff I have to like … next to drums and bass …) I like the Villains sound. It is not overwhelming. It is anyhow great relaxing music to me.

The band sings in English and German and I like both of it.

Anche il palcoscenico di Onnivora ospiterà i diversi lavori della Seymour, perciò l’ironico titolo “a piedi nudi sul palco”.

In esposizione una selezione delle “Delishoes”, esposte in Italia, NY e Chicago. Le “Cactus Ladies”, dipinti delle ironiche donne imperfette saranno presente, come altri lavori colorati, provocative, piccoli e grandi.

Il caratteristico che esprime meglio l’artista è il forte senso dell’ironia, una qualità che aiuta a vivere. Ci saranno lavori anche piccoli che sono “pezzi unici” da regalare a degli “amici unici”.

Venite ad ammirare i tanti lavori della Seymour, ma anche per conoscerla personalmente ogni pomeriggio da sabato 10 a venerdì 16 dicembre dalle ore 17.00 alle ore 20.00.
Dal mese di gennaio Stephanie presenterà ad Onnivora dei laboratori creativi aperti a tutti, pubblicati sul sito dell’Onnivora: Onnivora La mostra è anche l’occasione per poter parlare insieme all’artista di questi incontri creativi.

You know how much democracy a country is living and providing when you see how a country treats its artists, comedians, political messages spreading performing intelligent culture people. In Germany this might be probably work these days … but in countries like Burma it is definitely not working.

One of the most popular artists and comedians per se is Zarganar.

There is a very good documentary movie about Zarganar out these days called “The Prison where I live”. It is a kind of road movie where German comedian Michael Mittermeier tries to get closer to Zarganar while he is arrested in prison.

Well, this blog cannot free Zarganar but I wanted you to know that artists wherever they are shouldn’t be forgotten just becuz they are behind fences or they are not allowed to work.

Jason Webley misses his accordeon

Actually JASON WEBLEY is on big Europe Tour. He had yesterday a concert in Leipzig, Germany. Some fool was kidnapping his accordeon. He needs it back. It has so much soul in it. I heard it once.

this is s o damn mean!

yesterday the band KILL HANNAH was the victim of a crime.

all theyr stuff was stolen in philadelphia,

they had to cancel shows and are in a very silly situation (nicely said).

the official press release sais:

Chicago nu romantics KILL HANNAH woke up on the eve of wrapping their fall tour with Jet, Papa Roach and Morningwood to a find their 15-passenger van and 14-foot trailer stolen. Taken between 4am and 11am today, Wednesday, November 11 from the front of the Holiday Inn on 900 Packer Ave, Philadelphia, PA—the same location that rock trio Mae had their van stolen from just a week earlier—the band lost over $120,000 in gear and merchandise, including one-of-a-kind vintage custom guitars and vintage custom effects. The theft comes just over a year after a devastating fire in Europe destroyed everything on the band’s bus.
Lead singer Mat Devine says, “We’re devastated and speechless. We’ve been touring so hard around the world for the past seven years and this is the most evil thing we’ve witnessed. Special Crimes say this was a coordinated heist.”
The band regretfully has to cancel their remaining tour dates, scheduled for the Electric Factory in Philadelphia tonight and the Nokia Theatre in New York City tomorrow. Their seventh annual “New Heart For Xmas” weekend of shows and events are still scheduled in Chicago on December 18 at Reggie’s Rock House and December 19 at Metro.
